In an attempt to break away from the cookie cutter trend that currently plagues a great deal of today's R&B music, Kelli's mission is to bring raw emotion, song writing and vocal talent of yesteryear back to today's music scene. With her highly anticipated sophomore project, My Soul, Kelli explores her African-American and Puerto Rican heritage through her music, which is an eclectic mix of neo-soul with a Latin twist. While people who are into the alternative R&B and hip hop scene will find her music amazing, don't be surprised if she also attracts the Latin market as several of her songs are recorded in Spanish. But don't get it twisted. In the end, Kelli's music comes from the heart and soul.

"It's the pain and pleasure from my soul that fuels my music," says the New York native, who sold 5,000 copies of her debut album (released on her label OGW Entertainment) independently based on her live performances. "Soul is not learned or rehearsed or practiced. Soul is lived and that's the truth! I want to give people the sense that they know me - that I'm kinda like the twisted girl next door. If you've listened to someone's CD and you don't really know the person, it's the lyrics and emotions that are sung that make
you feel connected to the artist."

Kelli's resume boasts of accomplishments that any true student of music and independent artist could wish for. She has worked with the best of the best. As the lead singer of the acid jazz band Count Basic, her multi-octave voice has reached millions of people around the world as she has toured extensively. Not only has she worked with and sang background vocals for such respected acts as Me'Shell Ndegeocello, PM Dawn, Neneh Cherry, DJ Logic, Corey Glover and Arrested Development, but she has also opened shows for such music legends as the late Curtis Mayfield, George Clinton and P-Funk, the P-Funk All Stars, David Bowie, Bootsy Collins, Incognito, Toto, Living Colour, Bernie Worell, Inner Circle and The Tom Tom Club. Furthermore, she has worked with and toured with world renowned Japanese composer/arranger Ryuichi Sakamoto (who won a Grammy for composing the score to one of the greatest films in American cinema, The Last Emperor).

Kelli also prides herself on the response that she has received from critics in regard to her live show. One critic even went as far as to praise Kelli by saying, "All I can say is the bitch is bad!" But don't take the critics' word for it, the reaction from her audience says it all.

"My show is exciting, energetic, sexy and really raw," says Kelli, who also mentions that her show is unpredictable. "Anybody who's squeamish or prude should stay home because my show has some sexual overtones. At one show, I
spanked an audience member with my riding crop as he begged for more. Then I told him to get on his fuckin' knees and lick my boot, and man, that's the best spit shine I ever had!" says Kelli as she bursts into laughter.

However, although Kelli has already gained a mammoth following for an independent artist after releasing only one album and her lively stage show, she wants to be remembered for her contributions to neo-soul music and more importantly, making people feel good with her gift of song.

"At the end of the day, I'm just trying to make everybody feel good. I want to be that pain reliever. If I didn't make you feel good, then I didn't do my job properly."

As Kelli Sae bears her soul, she comes one step closer to completing her quest.
